A Strange Initiation: Uranus-Neptune-Pluto and the transformation of worldview

We seem to be in a period of increasing high strangeness, as one might expect during a potent melding of the material plane of Saturn and the spiritual plane of Neptune making a tight formation with the quantum leap of Uranus and the evolutionary drive of Pluto.

Pluto on the left makes a close trine to Uranus at lower right, and these both make a sextile to Neptune in between the two

Uranus makes exact trines to Pluto on July 17, 2026, November 29, 2026, June 15, 2027, January 12, 2028 and May 9, 2028--all the while cradling close sextiles to Neptune

Saturn-Neptune and the complication of the prosaic

In November 2024, I started to passively take in information about UFO/UAP (unidentified flying objects, now referred to as unidentified aerial phenomena), due to many instances of unidentified, enormous drones and mysterious orbs of light on the US East Coast and indeed around the world in the autumn of 2024. Someone who has had life-changing experiences with these phenomena, Chris Bledsoe, had predicted this event in either his April 2023 or May 2023 interview and livestream on New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove. This accurate prediction caught my attention and for the first time, I turned to investigate the UFO/UAP facet of the paranormal.

We were fully under the influence of the Saturn-Neptune conjunction by fall 2024, and this combination turns out to fit quite well with the UFO/UAP subject, particularly given Neptune’s intimacy with the Uranus trine Pluto alignment spanning 2024 to 2030. Uranus-Pluto relates to accelerations in technology, but also in esoteric sciences and metaphysical understanding, whether we are looking into the most microscopic invisibles or the most macroscopic invisibles.

Since my metaphysics recognizes multi-dimensionality and the fact of invisibles interacting with the world—due to lifelong experience rather than an externally derived belief system—that part of exploring UFO/UAPs has just been mostly entertaining and frequently intriguing. There is so much apparent fabulation in UFO lore, but then there are individual stories that are much more convincing, plus the more concerning potentials for psy-ops accompanying the US government’s official disclosure slowly deploying since about 2016--under the last Saturn square Neptune alignment. But being acquainted with high strangeness and the uncanny, this is no real challenge to my worldview.

A year on from taking this stuff in, the most eye-opening thing has actually been just how much the US government is no longer the US government. In the sense that The Atomic Energy Act and the National Security Act and other pieces of legislation have created intricate networks of completely hidden moneys, projects, technologies and so forth—whose secrecy is defended with deadly force—such that there is a culture of zero accountability to the public or what could be conceived of as the public interest. (Quite reminiscent of the culture that created Ghislaine Maxwell’s and Jeffrey Epstein’s network and activities.)

Even though it does have a distinct connection to disclosure of secrets, Saturn and Neptune can form strange combinations relating to so many contrasting experiences and events. Saturn will draw forth the concrete or material manifestation of things which are only imagined or are totally hidden behind a smokescreen (Neptune). Neptune’s diffusion can make it very difficult and arduous to discern what is real (Saturn) and arrive at truth. The particular secrecies that are breached under the influence of Saturn-Neptune can carry the sense of “it is way worse (Saturn) than I could have imagined (Neptune) and indeed already suspected.”

But the influence of Uranus trine Pluto seems to indicate that none of us are alone in this awakening to sometimes shocking or unbelievable or very painful truths, where Pluto pertains to the great mass of people and beings. Many eyes are opening to previously hidden or shame-cloaked secrecies worldwide, appearing in different iterations in different contexts.

However, as much of a collective as we are—as humanity, and more broadly as members of Earth Community—it is still the individual who must reckon with changes in awareness, the introduction of new information, the overturning of previous beliefs and so on.

How might we reflect on and understand various responses to shocking or disturbing revelations?

John E. Mack (October 4, 1929 – September 27, 2004), the head of Harvard department of psychiatry from 1977 to 2004, may be able to give us all some useful pointers for finding our way through this period of many, many disclosures. In 1990, Mack became very interested in the suffering of people who had claimed to be contacted and even abducted by non-human or alien lifeforms. Such claims were met with scorn and derision—in no small part thanks to the influence of the US military, who made this topic very taboo and controversial—yet his skeptical interest was piqued and he brought a psychological concern to the topic.

He started out unconcerned with whether such abductions really happened or not, and rather focused on how to help an obviously distressed and now socially outcast or isolated part of the population who largely did not exhibit any signs of mental illness or delusion. Through Mack's work with experiencers, as he came to call them, he suggested a rather helpful framework for understanding how individuals might psychologically deal with worldview-shattering experiences or information.

John Mack noticed three main types of responses to an experience or to information that is too shocking to take in, or impossible to believe because one’s construction of reality doesn’t admit it in, such as the UFO/UAP subject. This framework might help us recognize the various ways that the Neptune-Uranus-Pluto influence ripples through the collective by way of individual process, as those three worldview-shaping planets closely conspire through the year 2030. I will add some planetary archetypes to this just for fun, while acknowledging many planetary combinations could meaningfully describe these three different responses:

  • (Saturn-Pluto) You complete deny it happened, and all those countless, unrelated and very similar reports of individual experiences of other-than-human craft or beings are just madness, hallucination, childhood trauma welling up from the unconscious, etc.

  • (Saturn-Neptune) You try to shoehorn the information into the existing paradigm, and just whittle away what doesn’t fit the existing worldview.

  • (Saturn-Neptune-Pluto) You update your worldview, take the info in and adjust accordingly.

A brief word on the archetype assignments: Saturn symbolizes the status quo, consensus reality, a functional shared understanding held by a group. Saturn is just there, and if we were in a school of fish, it would represent the water we are all swimming in and do not typically see unless something dramatic causes us to question our inherited belief structures.

In each of the three possible responses, the baseline worldview of normal (Saturn) is modified. And it's important to remember that one reason Saturn is experienced as the "greater malefic" and Uranus as a destroyer of worlds is that humanity abhors uncertainty. The path of the dharma or Buddhism is founded on this truth. Evolutionarily, we want a predictable baseline because we burn so much energy metabolically when we are in a state of uncertainty. Our nervous and perceptual systems are geared to identify threats first of all. Only after we are satisfied that there is no threat, and that we can predict the next thing (usually in an entirely unconscious process), can our bodies and minds relax and simply abide.

Saturn-Pluto refers to reinforcing and hardening one’s view against anything that challenges the status quo, which can sometimes result in an explosion once denial can no longer suppress the truth of new knowledge.

With Saturn-Neptune, there is enough openness and humility (Neptune) to admit there may be realities which exceed our current understanding, but there is not a full admission of all data points and so Saturn’s connection to the past or the current idea of normal, rules the day.

With Saturn-Neptune-Pluto, there is not only an opening creating in one’s cosmic construction, but Neptune’s larger reality comes in enough for Pluto’s evolutionary action to transform and work together with the fact of Saturn to forge a new understanding over time. Given how slow those two outer planets are, Neptune and Pluto, bringing them together in a new construction (Saturn) is necessarily an extended, multi-generational process.

I would also add another valence to the Saturn-Neptune-Pluto "update of worldview," which is more regressive or atavistic than adaptive or expansive to understanding and incorporating a newly discovered facet of reality. I've noticed a tendency to want to revert to an imaginary "simpler time," an extreme nostalgia that can itself become deadly in its reaction against an unsettling truth. Pluto's instinctual layers can overwhelm all rationality or higher level thinking due to fear of threat.

Although adaptation (or maladaptation) tends to be a multi-generational process, Uranus says there are leaps and bounds that occur. A completely new cosmology can emerge quite rapidly, though the consequences ripple out through time. In this assignment of archetypes, Uranus is out there in the environment, it’s the wild and unimaginable thing we’re confronted with that shatters expectations or upends our current understanding.

Though the abrupt nature of Uranus is part of the wild, wild Soul of the World, such changes in worldview do not happen overnight for individuals or for collectives. It's a process. Though the 2020s may involve some very strange initiations, it’s important to recognize that to initiate means to begin a process that unfolds over time. It is just a beginning, and if we're honest about the nature of knowledge, this process of discovery and knowing continues on without end.
