Astrological Weather for April 2025

The Challenge of the Aim

Sun-Mars-Pluto

Whereas March 2025 appears to have been a crucible for so many currents of history to crash together in swirls and eddies, April 2025 looks a bit more like a launching pad. The rumbles of March will continue to echo into April, but there is great initiatory energy as well as momentum written into this month’s stars.

Taking aim will be important here, because it is quite easy to lose our tempers or completely jump the gun. The high energy of Mars is amplified for pretty much half the month of April due to moving at a pace that sustains a tense T-square formation with the energizing power of the Sun and the volcanic intensity of Pluto. Although the third week of April carries the height of this intensity, we should remain wary of things like road rage or creating dangerous situations through unnecessary haste or urgency.

It’s great energy for starting a new exercise regimen, working hard in the garden, or seeking out meaningful interactions with the natural world, particularly where we can also work up a sweat. We might be more bold than usual. Blowing off steam will be important to help us aim this vigorous energy towards generative and regenerative goals. We could even use this quality of time to deeply consider how we are using our life’s finite energy, in order to understand deeper drives and motivations we may have buried in our subconscious mind.

Venus-Saturn-Neptune

Breaking free of limiting perspectives and fantasy stories is another possibility under these skies. Where Sun-Mars-Pluto provides a great deal of ambition and can provide the capacity for sustained action and great courage, the complementary planet of love, connection and social agreements, Venus, has returned to direct motion with the April 12 Full Moon after 40 days and nights of retrograde motion. Venus is said to rule the April 12 lunation, which occurred in the justice-oriented sign of Libra near the end of a long dance with the limits, boundaries and discernment of Saturn. While Venus has been influenced by Saturn since January, with an exact conjunction Jan. 18, and two more exact conjunctions on April 7 and April 24, the potency of this archetypal complex is especially strong this month.

Saturn is constantly asking us to notice what is—not what we wish were true or falsely imagine is true. Venus’ interaction with Saturn this month will push us to examine our commitments in intimate, collegial and friend relationships, and to be very real about what we find attractive, and how we try to attract (or repel) others in our lives. Many of us will make and break some profound karmic patterns and connections throughout this time.

Why or how might we disconnect and reconnect under this cosmic influence? Venus has a strong connection to mirrors, and not just because she is related to beauty, the perception of symmetry and what we find pleasing or attractive. Through Venus’ retrograde period spanning February through May, we can see more clearly what of ourselves and our values are reflected back to us, especially if we take the time for self-reflection and spend less time projecting our frustrations or sense of lack out onto the world. By taking some accountability—which is very pleasing to Saturn—for what we value and objectively seeing what our thoughts, words and deeds signal about our values and sense of self-esteem (Venus), we can participate in the house cleaning that Venus-Saturn is offering up. It is important to allow ourselves to notice what simply is, before applying a judgment of whether it is good or bad or neutral.

Though Saturn’s action in our lives can provoke grief and sadness, the point of cleaning house is to make the space for new life to come. Although grief must be honored and not bypassed, orienting to what makes us come alive is also necessary, and being real about what we actually serve creates a navigational aid. For example, it’s an excellent time to examine our understanding of Venus’s province of money and wealth, reciprocity or exchange of all kinds, because we might find helpful new perspectives by gazing in this mirror. For example, what if money is actually symbolic of a sacred agreement among all beings, more than just humans, and is an earthly form of the divine reflecting the shared obligations we all hold for each other? What if money were symbolic of the web of life itself? How then would we structure our lives and the agreements we make and honor with each other?

Such queries are underscored by Venus’ heavenly dance with the infinity of Neptune, making exact conjunctions on Feb. 1, Mar. 27 and once more on May 2, bringing the power to re-imagine everything about Venus. As chaotic, frightening and polarizing or alienating as it is for many people at this time, we are also in an intensely creative time on the planet.

The Earth Community can profoundly benefit from our acts of creation, dedication and deep imagination, which means sourcing our imagination, belief and faith in sources as deep as those implied by the planetary archetype of Neptune. Neptune’s mystical sea of infinite potential and infinite relationship absolutely demands our self-reflection, to at minimum be aware of our own consciousness and engage with that capacity. We’re in a new cycle of the imagination in many ways, as the 36-year Saturn-Neptune cycle resets itself next January when those two planets conjoin at 0° Aries, symbolic of a new knowledge emerging on the planet.

While no one of us can say we are in control of the story or how it all unfolds, we can definitely exert influence and know that it counts. The important piece is: what exactly are we aiming for, really?
